THE BATTLE AT BROOKFIELD

54 Mud Racers lined up at the lights to drag side by side down the muddy lanes, Sunday, September 10 at the Brookfield 4-H Arena. The competition was double elimination in all the classes except the Open Rail Class where the rails are timed for two runs and their time combined.
The races started with the radical Rail Class. The spectators were not disappointed with the break neck speed, mud slinging, wheelies, nitrous injecting, alcohol burning rail class. When the last clump of mud hit the ground Terry Beets in the Friendly Beets and Hays S10 Chevy took the 1st place trophy home to Chillicothe, Doc Donoho of Chillicothe claimed 2nd, Tony Truitt in his blue Bottle Rocket from Linneus taking 3rd, and Ryan Coffman in Extreme Insanity from Trenton took home 4th place.
Bill Thompson from Chillicothe stood out in the stock class, taking the 1st place trophy and money. Ian Diegelman from Chillicothe drove hard to capture 2nd place. Wayne Ellis, Kirksville, took 3rd in the Old & Ugly and Holly Burnett of Chillicothe pulled out a 4th place in the Blue Devil.. Doc Donoho of Chillicothe picked up 5th.

The noise got louder and things got intense as Jason Sensenich in his yellow Precsion truck of Brookfield hauled the first place Modified-Stock Class trophy home . Clint Burnett in Blue Devil of Chillicothe crabbed 2nd place with Josh Cranmer of Chillicothe taking 3rd place. Ron Morris of Milan took 4th and Caleb Galloway 5th.
The pace picked up as the Super-Stock Class started. First place went to Danny Koenig Jr. of Huntsville in his 88 Ford, Digger Two. Cory Corbin, Chillicothe, kept his foot to the floor to take home 2nd place while a hometown mud racer, Brian Ellison, captures 3rd place. Daniel Hays of Chillicothe took home 4th and hometown racer, John Burton, placed 5th .
Melvin Hays in the Hays and Beets S 10 Chevy never backed off from the tough competition in the Modified Class for the 1st place trophy. Danny Koenig Sr. from Huntsville drove his 81 Chevy, Digger, to place 2nd . Blake Rardon of Chillicothe took home 3rd. Mike Fehring drove from Gilman City to compete and take home 4th place while Daniel Hays of Chillicothe claimed 5th place.

The Open 4x4 Truck Class put the fans on the edge of their seats. The drivers pulled up to the lights to stage, the engines reved up, and things happened fast when the light turned green.. Terry Beets captured the first place trophy in the Beets & Hays S10 Chevy, making it the 3rd First place trophy for the day.. Ryan Coffman in the Red Toyota /Chevy, Extreme Insanity, ran hard to take home 2nd place, while Blake Rardon of Chillicothe got 3rd and Luke Perkins of "Them Perkin Boys Racing Team" of Lock Springs took 4th . Doc Donoho of Chillicothe took home 5th.
